Earlier this month, thousands of firefighting professionals and other industry experts gathered in Indianapolis for FDIC International to discover what the future holds for a dynamic, changing industry. Attendance this year broke records with more than 37,000 participating in the events and festivities.

For Chief Finley, having that insight was all he needed to make a quick decision to add to East End Volunteer Fire Department’s rescue tool resources. Three years ago, Finley joined HURST Jaws of Life^® as a dealer, and his truck was nearby with the rescue tools he used during demonstrations. Among those tools were his set of battery-powered eDRAULIC^® tools – the same tools the station uses. With easy familiarity and now a deep tool box that could accommodate the multiple patient needs, the rescue team got to work two 555 E2 Spreaders, two 700 E2 Cutters, 777 E2 Spreader, 312 E2 Cutter and two 421 E2 Rams.

In the rescue industry, it doesn’t matter what role you’re in or how long you’ve had it. When it’s time to save a life, you go. With 17 years of ‘get up and go’ experience, Chris Corbus was promoted to Lieutenant of the Elmore County Rescue Unit (ECR) in Mountain Home, Idaho, equipped with HURST Jaws of Life tools from LN Curtis & sons.

HURST Jaws of Life rescue tools are only as good as the first responders who use them, and the passion that fuels Johns’ commitment to the rescue reflects HURST’s commitment to providing exceptional rescue tools.  In recognition of his efforts, Johns earned Green Cross honors from HURST Jaws of Life in 2016. He joined the ranks 1,673 other Green Cross recipients last year, including fire fighters, emergency medical technicians and law enforcement officers from 37 U.S. states, Canada, and Central and South America.
